Europe Day, Glasgow - 9 May 2016
On 9th May 2016 we celebrated Europe Day, together with consular representatives from the Member States, the European Commission, language institutes and members of the public in a gloriously sunny George Square, Glasgow. Europe Day marks the historic anniversary of the 1950 'Schuman declaration', when Robert Schuman set out his idea for a new form of political cooperation in Europe. In addition to a wide variety of information stalls, there were many musical performances from around Europe. Our stall drew a lot of attention from Glaswegians keen to know more about the European Parliament and the EU more generally.
