The second film to be screened as part of the series organised by the European Parliament Information Office in Edinburgh in partnership with Regional Screen Scotland, As I Open My Eyes (2015) is a French-Tunisian drama directed by Layla Bouzid.

The film was screened on two separate occasions, first on Sanday on 22 November, 2016 and then on Westray on 25 November, 2016. Set shortly before the start of the Tunisian Revolution, As I Open My Eyes tells the story of Farah, a recent high-school graduate who joins a political rock band despite her mother Hayet's desires to see her become a doctor. While the band finds huge success among young Tunisians, the political undertones of their songs spark the interest of the Tunisian secret service.
