Who stood for election in 2014?

Lists of candidates in each of the UK European electoral regions. Ballot papers listed all the parties standing in the region. Voters select one party. Each UK region elects several MEPs using proportional representation.

EP voting
In England, Scotland and Wales the voting system for the European elections is the d'Hondt system of proportional representation - regional closed list. In Northern Ireland the system is Single Transferable Vote.

Standing as a Candidate

To qualify as a candidate for election to the European Parliament, a person must have attained the age of at least 18 years and be a British citizen, a qualifying Commonwealth citizen, or a citizen of any other member state of the European Union who is resident in the UK.
