MEPs return to Brussels on 5 March for a week of committee meetings and political group meetings.

Committee highlights:

International Women's Day: Equal pay for work of equal value
Every year the European Parliament celebrates International Women's Day with an event that brings together European and national MPs from parliamentary committees for equal opportunities. In 2012, the event organised on 08.03.12, in the Hemicycle of the European Parliament, will focus on the theme "Equal pay for work of equal value". President Martin Schulz will open the debate.


Workshop on Europe's Water Challenges
In view of the upcoming "Implementation report on EU water legislation" and of the Commission's "Blueprint to safeguard Europe's water resources", Policy Department A is organising a workshop on the issue. The workshop will be held on 08.03.12, at 9.30.

Preparing for plenary

Preparing for the plenary. Parliament's political groups will prepare for the 12 - 15 March plenary session, in Strasbourg, where there will be votes on cross-border inheritances, the international cocoa agreement, EP electoral law reform and the progress of Iceland, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia towards possible future EU membership. Parliament will also set out its position on the 2013 EU budget, vote a resolution on gender equality and debate the outcome of the 1-2 March EU spring summit.
