MEPs are in Brussels next week for a week of committee meetings in preparation for the plenary session in Strasbourg 19 - 22 November


Committee highlights:

Spanish and Greek ministers. As part of MEP's ongoing 'economic dialogue' with EU governments, the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee will debate with Spanish economy minister Luis De Guindos Jurado on Monday. Economics and employment MEPs will debate with Greek finance minister Giannis Stournaras and Greek labour minister Ioannis Vroutsis  (Tuesday)

Emissions trading reform. The Environment Committee and external experts will discuss Commission proposals to delay trading on a number of carbon credits, which aim to support climate protection and green investment. (Monday)

Money laundering. The special committee on organised crime will debate channels and techniques used for money laundering, such as sports betting, casinos, and online gambling. (Monday)

Financial Transaction Tax - Enhanced cooperation on the FTT - Consideration of draft report by Anni Podimata (Greek Socialist)


Among the issues involving UK MEPs:

  • Nuclear decommissioning assistance programmes in Bulgaria, Lithuania and Slovakia. Responsible: ITRE - Giles Chichester (Cons, SouthWest)
