Syria, Migration and Food Waste – this week at the European Parliament

The MEPs are back in Brussels for a week of committee meetings. The situation in Syria as well as the migration crisis will be on top of the agenda. See our highlights below:

Syria. The latest developments in Syria, EU strategy for the country and the results of the Brussels Donor conference held on 4-5 April will be debated by the Foreign Affairs Committee MEPs with European External Action Service Secretary General Helga Schmid. (Monday)

Migration/return policy. The return of migrants without a right to stay in the EU is up for a Civil Liberties Committee debate with the Commission, which recently proposed reforms to the existing rules. (Tuesday)

Food waste. Ways to cut food waste by 50% by 2030, e.g. by making it easier to donate food, will be proposed by the Environment Committee. The proposals will also contribute to ongoing talks on a legislative package on the circular economy and waste management. (Tuesday)
