Brexit, migration and EU trade – this week at the European Parliament

It is going to be an exciting week for the MEPs in Brussels. As the Brexit negotiations formally kick off, the Parliament will host its hearing on Brexit and a high level conference on migration policy. We have more details for you below:

Highlights


Brexit. The European Parliament's Constitutional Affairs committee is organising a hearing on the constitutional challenges and implications of Brexit. A number of experts will share their views. You can watch the event live at 2pm on Tuesday via our web stream. (Tuesday, 2pm UK time)

Migration/ High-level conference. EP President Tajani, Commission President Juncker and EU foreign policy chief Mogherini will open a conference of more than 500 participants working on migration at the political level and on the ground, to discuss asylum and migration management, stability in third countries and the EU’s internal security. This comes ahead of the 22-23 June European Council that will also address migration policy. (Wednesday)

EU Trade defence tools. A revamp of EU anti-dumping measures, designed to protect EU jobs and business from unfair external competition, will be voted on by the International Trade Committee. The measures target countries where there are ‘substantial market distortions’, regardless of whether they have been granted market-economy status or not. (Tuesday)
