Delegations week at the European Parliament

After a busy plenary week, the MEPs are off for delegations this week. We have selected some highlights below.



Delegation to Greece. A delegation of the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee will go to Athens, Greece, from Monday to Wednesday to discuss matters of priority in its area of competence with representatives of the Hellenic Parliament, the Piraeus Port, the EU Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA), the Single Public Procurement Independent Authority, the European Consumer Centre and the Hellenic Organization for Standardization.

Internation Trade delegation to Chile. Led by the Committee Chair, Bernd Lange (S&D, DE), a delegation travels to Chile on Tuesday to see aboout bilateral trade relations and modernisation of the free trade agreement between EU and Chile. The delegation will meet a number of key government figures. They will also have exchanges with Chilean legislators, civil society organisations, representatives of the industry and indigenous people.

FEMM delegation to Italy. The focus of this visit to Rome and Naples will be on conscientious objection to abortion and trafficking of migrant women for prostitution in Italy. MEPs will meet in Rome with doctors and NGOs dealing with conscientious objection, as well as with the Italian Minister for Health, Giulia Gillo (tbc). The delegation will also travel to Naples to meet local elected representatives and NGOs dealing with trafficking of women. Furthermore, they will visit two shelters for women victims of trafficking and the Casa Internazionale delle Donne.


The European Parliament is in recess for Christmas between 24 December and 3 January 2019.
