MEPs return to their constituencies next week and meet again for a full week of committee meetings in Brussels on 18 February.


Committee highlights:

Delegation visit to Ireland on employment and socio-economic affairs
A delegation of Members from the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs will be travelling to Ireland on 11-12.02.13. The main subjects that will be tackled include the current socio-economic and employment situation in Ireland, new financial instruments in the area of employment and social affairs for the period 2014-2020, as well as posting of workers directive.

Delegation visit to Spain to meet representatives of the industry
A delegation of Members from the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy will visit Spain on 12-14.02.13. They will meet with representatives of the industry and local SMEs in Tarragona to examine the impact of the economic crisis and of the accompanying austerity programmes. In Sevilla, the Members will visit the Institute of Prospective Technological Studies and discuss its activities in Support of Smart Specialisation.

Delegation visit to Germany on employment related issues
The Committee on Employment and Social Affairs is organising a delegation visit to Germany (in Frankfurt and Berlin) on 13-15.02.13. The main issues that will be discussed include the future of the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund, the revision of the rules on ground handling services in EU airports, as well as the enforcement of the Posting of workers directive.
