MEPs return to Brussels on 3 June for committee meetings and political group meetings in preparation for the Strasbourg plenary from 10-13 June.

 

Highlights:

Commissioner hearing
Neven Mimica, Croatia's Commissioner-designate for consumer protection, will face questions from MEPs on his competence to take up the role. (Tuesday)


Cyber attacks
The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs votes on a draft law - agreed with member states - to make it a criminal offence EU-wide to hack IT systems or distribute hacking software. (Thursday)

Other Issues

Arab Spring media seminar
Parliament co-organises a three-day seminar for journalists on the Arab Spring, together with the European Commission and the European Journalism Centre. MEPs, high-level EU officials and media representatives are among the speakers. (Tuesday- Thursday)


Plenary preparation
Political groups will prepare for the 10-13 June plenary session in Strasbourg, which will include votes on asylum, border controls, the appointment of a Croatian Commissioner, a fund to aid deprived people, requirements for baby milk and food for medical purposes, disclosure by extractive industries of their deals with governments, as well as addresses by the Presidents of Slovenia and Portugal.
