MEPs return to Brussels on 18 March for a full week of committee meetings.


Committee highlights:

Presentation of the draft mid-term report of the Special Committee
The rapporteur of the Special Committee on Organised Crime, Corruption and Money Laundering, Salvatore IACOLINO (EPP, IT)), will present his draft mid-term report on the 18.03.2013. The draft report proposes several concrete improvements to EU legislation in the areas of organised crime, corruption and money laundering.

Committee vote on groundhandling services at EU airports
The Committee on Transport and Tourism will vote on the legislative report concerning the efficiency and overall quality of groundhandling services at EU airports, both for airlines and for end-users (passengers and freight forwarders), on 19.03.13. Commission representatives will also give updates on the revision of the air passenger regulation and the decision on flight and duty times of pilots and crew members.

Online gambling debate, hearing on motor vehicle registration
the Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection will discuss a non-legislative report on online gambling, stating that common standards should address the rights and obligations of both the service provider and the consumer. The Committee will also hold a hearing on motor vehicle registration, focusing on harmonising and simplifying procedures for re-registration of vehicles previously registered in another EU country (20.03.13).

Debate on post-2015 Millennium Development Goals
Members in the Committee on Development will deal with the future of development policy when they discuss the non-legislative report entitled "Millennium Development Goals - defining the post-2015 framework" (rapporteur: Filip KACZMAREK (EPP, PL)). The report also touches on the follow up to Rio+20 and the UN General Assembly Special Event on the Millennium Development Goals of September 2013. This debate will take place on 19.03.13.

Public hearings: Collective Management of Copyright; Common European Sales Law
The Committee on Legal Affairs will be holding a public hearing on "Collective Management of Copyright and Related Rights: Towards a Viable Solution" on 18.03.13. The following day, it will hold another public hearing on "Common European Sales Law: Work in Progress".
