Brexit: political group leaders to meet after Article 50 is activated

The European Parliament's Conference of Presidents will meet to prepare for the April plenary session on Wednesday afternoon, including a response to the expected notification by the UK government that it intends to leave the EU. Parliament’s President Antonio Tajani, political group leaders, point man for the negotiations with the UK Guy Verhofstadt, and Constitutional Affairs Committee chair Danuta Hübner, will discuss the consequences of the UK government’s triggering of Article 50.

The meeting of the Conference of Presidents (EP President and political group leaders) is set to begin at 16.00.

A joint press conference by President Antonio Tajani and EP point man Guy Verhofstadt (ALDE, BE) will be held at the end of the meeting (around 17.15) in the Anna Politkovskaya Press conference room (PHS 00A050).

Parliament’s Audiovisual Service will cover the arrivals and a round table at the start of the Conference of Presidents meeting. The press conference will be covered live on EbS+ and web streamed.

Journalists with an existing accreditation can access the premises without further registration. Recording permits, however, will need to be obtained at the accreditation desk.

Journalists can collect their badges at the Media Accreditation office (visitors entrance - rue Wiertz), Monday-Friday during office hours (8.30-18.00).

It is recommended that you request accreditation in advance.
