A conference on "The German experience of federalism"

The main speaker, Professor Rudolf Hrbek of Tübingen University, will discuss the development of the federal system in Germany, the effects of unification on the federal system and recent efforts to modernise German federalism. He will also give an insight into the German view of the European Union and its possible federal development. Mr Johannes Leithäuser of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung will provide further comment before a general question and answer session. Finally the Minister at the German Embassy, Dr Eckhard Lübkemeier, has kindly invited us to a reception afterwards.


The programme is as follows:

5.00 - 5.30pm Doors open
5.30 - 6.00pm Professor Rudolf Hrbek
6.00-6.15 pm Mr Johannes Leithäuser
6.15 - 7.00pm Questions and Answers, with responses from speakers
7.00 - 8.00pm Drinks reception.
