Scrutinising diplomacy: the roles of the European Parliament and the US Congress - London, 20th May 2016

This conference aims to examine the challenge posed for scrutiny by the changing nature of diplomacy in general, and responses to the challenge. Within this context, it will explore the framework for scrutiny of diplomacy in the EU and the US, concentrating on the European Parliament and the US Congress, evaluate the effectiveness of scrutiny in a range of recent cases, and compare EU and US perspectives on the nature and effectiveness of scrutiny.
