The European Parliament (Committee on Culture and Education) and the French Parliament (Cultural, Family and Social Affairs Committee of the National Assembly and Cultural Affairs Committee of the Senate) organised a Joint Committee Meeting on "Education and Culture" that took place in the European Parliament in Brussels on the 8 December 2008.

This Joint Committee Meeting was co-chaired by Mrs Katerina Batzeli, Chairwoman of the EP's Committee on Culture and Education and Mrs Bernadette Bourzai, Secretary of the European Affairs Committee and member of the Cultural Affairs Committee of the Senate.

The main topics of this Joint Committee Meeting were Language learning, multilingualism and intercultural dialogue, including and exchange of views with the EC Member Mr. Leonard Orban, and Cultural diversity and the digital economy, including and exchange of views with the EC Member Mrs Viviane Reding.
