"The future of the cohesion policy after 2013" made the subject of an inter-parliamentary committee meeting organised on the initiative of the European Parliament Committee on Regional Development to which parliamentarians from the corresponding committees in the National Parliaments were invited.
The meeting, chaired by Mr. Gerardo Galeote, Chairman of the Regional Development Committee, counted with the participation of the Minister responsible for Regional Development of the Czech Governement (Presidency of the EU Council), Mr. Cyril Svoboda, and of the Director General of Regional Development in the European Commission, Mr. Dirk Ahner. It constituted a platform for a discussion about the future development of cohesion policy, and focused in particular on:
- Synergy and coordination mechanisms among various decisional levels;
- Governance and partnership principles;
- Role and scope of territorial cohesion and territorial cooperation;
- Improvement of management and administrative capacities.
The meeting took place on Wednesday, 11 February 2009, in the József Antall (JAN) building of the European Parliament in Brussels, Room 2Q2.
