Parliamentary Seminars for Western Balkan Parliaments

 

 

 

 

 

 

Besides meetings between national parliaments of the Member States and the European Parliament, seminars with Members and officials of the Western Balkan parliaments are also organised at the European Parliament. These seminars are organised in close cooperation with DG EXPO.

The aim of these seminars is to step up dialogue between the European Parliament and the national parliaments concerned in order to promote and strengthen parliamentary democracy in the region.

Representatives of the European Commission and other experts also regularly attend.

The subjects of the seminars are selected in the light of the interests of the Parliaments of the countries concerned. The aim is to familiarise members and officials of these countries' Parliaments with the way the EU and the European Parliament work, as well as with the European policies which concern them.

The Institutional Cooperation Unit of the Directorate for Relations with National Parliaments is responsible for the implementation of this programme.
