High Parliamentary Conference "Policy Coherence for Development and Migration"

The Committee on Development of the European Parliament (DEVE), chaired by Mr. Josep Borrell, hosted this High Parliamentary Conference which was jointly organised by DEVE, the European Commission and the OECD.

President Pöttering, Commissioner Michel and OECD Deputy Secretary-General Mario Amano opened the Conference, which looked at the impact of EU and OECD member states’ migration policies on the economic and social development in migrants’ countries of origin. Among participants there were MEPs and national parliamentarians from the EU Members States and Candidate Countries, non-EU OECD (USA, Australia, Norway, etc.) and ACP states.
