Review of European and National Elections 2019

The European Parliament's 'Review of European and National Election Results' is the most complete and comprehensive database available covering developments in the political spectrum across the EU, tracing back election results and the composition of the European Parliament to its first direct election in 1979. In addition, the Review also offers an overview of recent national elections in all EU Member States. The wealth of data assembled makes it an invaluable source of information and indeed a reference on the composition of the European Parliament and national political landscapes.

The February 2020 edition updates the available information on the composition of the European Parliament with data on the 27 new Members from 14 Member States who joined Parliament after the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the EU on 31 January 2020, leading to a necessary redistribution of seats.

This document also covers the latest national and direct presidential elections held in some Member States since its last update in September 2019. The results of five general elections and two direct presidential elections, held between September 2019 and 14 February 2020, are detailed in the present Review.

The editions of the Review listed below document all changes in the composition of the European Parliament since the last European elections in May 2019. Editions concerning previous parliamentary terms can be consulted here.
