ECI: Save Cruelty-Free Cosmetics – Commit to a Europe without Animal Testing

On 25 May, ENVI will hold a hearing on the European Citizens’ Initiative: ‘Save cruelty-free cosmetics – Commit to a Europe without animal testing’. The AGRI and PETI Committees will be associated.

Following a presentation of the European Citizens' Initiative (ECI), Members will hold a debate with the ECI organisers on the protection and strengthening of the cosmetics animal testing ban, before discussing the EU chemicals regulation, and the need to modernise science in the EU. European Commission Vice-President Jourová and Commissioner Breton are expected to take part in the debate.

The hearing will be divided into three parts, corresponding the Initiative's three objectives:
  1. Protect and strengthen the cosmetics animal testing ban.
  2. Transform EU chemicals regulation.
  3. Modernise science in the EU
