16/17 May: Ukraine tariff suspension, debates with EVPs Vestager and Dombrovskis

In its meeting of 16 and 17 May, the International Trade Committee will vote on the temporary suspension of EU tariffs on Ukranian goods, as well as on a number of legislative and non-legislative files. In addition, Commission Executive-Vice Presidents Vestager and Dombrovskis will debrief Members about EU-US trade and technology cooperation right after an important meeting.

On 16 May, the Committee will vote on a proposed Regulation that will temporarily suspend tariffs on Ukrainian industrial and agricultural products as well as anti-dumping duties and safeguard measures on steel imports for a period of one year and that will act as the supplement to trade concessions under the existing Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine. INTA will also vote on a legislative opinion on the proposed Deforestation Regulation, as well as on its own-initiative reports on EU investment policy, EU-Africa trade relations and the Indo-Pacific strategy in the area of trade and investment, among others.

On 17 May, Executive Vice-Presidents Margrethe Vestager and Valdis Dombrovskis will debrief Members the day after the second meeting of the EU-US Trade and Technology Council. In addition, EVP Dombrovskis will discuss the preparations for the 12th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organisation (planned for 12-15 June) with INTA Members.
