The Committees on Budgetary Control, and on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs will welcome Laura Codruța Kövesi, the European Chief Prosecutor, on 18 March 2026 to exchange on the latest developments in the activity of the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) and the Annual Report 2025 published at the beginning of March.

The European Court of Auditors presented its Opinion 10/2026 on the proposal for a regulation establishing a budget expenditure tracking and performance framework and other horizontal rules for the Union programmes and activities, to the Committees on Budgets and on Budgetary Control, on 5 March 2026.

On 5 March 2026, the CONT Committee considered the draft opinion for ITRE on the proposal for a regulation establishing the European Competitiveness Fund ('ECF'), including the specific programme for defence research and innovation activities.

On 5 March 2026, the CONT Committee voted on the draft opinion for the BUDG Committee on their Interim report on the proposal for a Council regulation laying down the multiannual financial framework for the years 2028 to 2034.

On 5 March 2026, the Committee on Budgetary Control voted on the draft own-initiative report (INI) on the Protection of the European Union’s financial interests – combating fraud – annual report 2024.

The Committee on Budgetary Control voted on the draft reports and amendments concerning the 2024 Discharge to the European Parliament, the Other Institutions and the Joint Undertakings on 2 March 2026.

On 2 March 2026, the CONT Committee considered the draft CONT opinion to the ITRE Committee on the proposal for a regulation establishing Horizon Europe, the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, for the period 2028-2034.

ECA presented this Special report to the CONT and ENVI Committees on 24 February 2026. LIFE is the EU’s main environmental and climate funding instrument. It introduces strategic projects to close the gap between strategies and their execution at national and regional levels. LIFE funded 70 projects from 2014 to 2020. Since 2021, and as of April 2025, it has awarded €436 million to 25 projects. The audit examined 22 projects to assess their added value to meeting EU objectives.

Katarína Kaszasová, reporting Member of the European Court of Auditors (ECA), presented the Special report 06/2026 "Tackling fraud in the RRF – Work in progress" to the Committee on Budgetary Control on 24 February 2026. The Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) had been invited.
