Next meeting of the Budgetary Control Committee (CONT)


In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the President of the European Parliament has established a number of measures to contain the spread of the virus and to safeguard Parliament's core activities. The current precautionary measures do not affect work on legislative priorities.
Core activities are maintained to ensure the smooth running of the institution's legislative, budgetary, and scrutiny functions.
Following these decisions, the next CONT committee meeting will take place on Wednesday, 15 and Thursday, 16 June 2022.Nenechte si ujít

At the joint meeting of committees on Budgets and on Budgetary Control of 16 May 2022, the Commission's Director-General for Budget Gert-Jan Koopman presented the recently published proposals to revise the Financial Regulation, namely the law laying down the principles and procedures governing the establishment, implementation and control of the EU budget .

On 11 May 2022, Members of the Committees on Budgetary Control (CONT) and Legal Affairs (JURI) held a joint committee meeting where ECA Member Ildikó Gáll-Pelcz presented Special Report 06/2022 "EU intellectual property rights: protection not fully waterproof".

On 11 May 2022, CONT Members considered the opinion to the Foreign Affairs Committee's report on the control of European funds in Lebanon.

On 11 May 2022, CONT Members participated in a workshop on "Single Audit approach - root causes of the weaknesses in the work of the Members States management and audit authorities".

On 11 May 2022, the Committee on Budgetary Control voted on the draft opinion to LIBE and ECON Committees' report "Establishing the Authority for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism and amending Regulations (EU) No 1093/2010, (EU) 1094/2010, (EU) 1095/2010".

On 11 May 2022, the Committee on Budgetary Control voted on the draft report "Control of the financial activities of the European Investment Bank (EIB) - Annual Report 2020".

On 11 May 2022, the Committee on Budgetary Control voted on the draft report "Protection of the EU’s Financial Interests - combatting fraud - Annual Report 2020".

On 21 April 2022, the Budgetary Control Committee held a Public Hearing on Technical Support (TS). The aim of this hearing was to get a better understanding of the challenges with TS, how the Commission is supporting Member States in the area of better administration, digitalisation and implementation of the funds, and how TS could help in preventing fraud and irregularities.

On 21 April 2022, the Budgetary Control Committee voted on the partial renewal of two Members of the European Court of Auditors: the Cypriot nomination for Mr Lefteris Christoforou and the Maltese nomination for Mr George Marius Hyzler.
