At the ECON committee meeting on Thursday 14 October 2021 at 9:00, the second ordinary public hearing this year in the framework of the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) will take place with Mr Andrea Enria, Chair of the Supervisory Board of the ECB.
On 14 October from 10:00 to 12:00, the ECON Members will hold the annual hearing with the Chairpersons of the ESAs, in accordance with Article 3 of the EBA, EIOPA and ESMA Regulations.
On 30 September from 09.00 to 10.00, ECON Members held an exchange of views with the candidate selected for the position of Chairperson of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), Verena Ross. The vote in ECON on the appointment took place on the same day with the following results: 46 votes in favour, 6 against and 5 abstentions. The Council has informed Parliament that it would appoint Ms Ross, if confirmed by Parliament.
On 27 September, 13:45 – 15:45, the ECON Committee had an exchange of views with the ECB President. This was the third Monetary Dialogue this year.
The Taxonomy Regulation is part of the EU strategy for sustainable finance and aims at redirecting capital flows to help generate sustainable and inclusive growth. Under the regulation, the Commission is obliged to define technical screening criteria for each environmental objective through delegated acts, to which the EP can object.
Members from the Committee on Budgets and the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs held the 3rd Recovery and Resilience Dialogue with Valdis Dombrovskis, Executive Vice-President for an Economy that Works for People and Paolo Gentiloni, Commissioner for Economy.
