European Solidarity Corps

© European Union 2018 - EP

The European Solidarity Corps is the European Union programme which creates opportunities for young people to volunteer or work in projects in their own country or abroad that benefit communities and people around Europe. It brings together young people to build a more inclusive society, supporting vulnerable people and responding to societal challenges. It offers an inspiring and empowering experience for young people who want to help, learn and develop.

While volunteering will remain its core aim for the next iteration of the programme, the Commission proposal believes humanitarian aid action outside the E.U should also be included. The new programme will also provide more support for those who need it, such as people with disabilities or health issues, from remote regions or a disadvantaged background. At least 350,000 young Europeans will be given the chance to support communities in need between 2021 and 2027 through volunteering, traineeships and job placements. Also, to ensure widespread knowledge of the programme, opportunities will be supported by a more ambitious communication and visibility campaign with a sure focus on the cross cultural benefits for all involved.
