In the TRAN Committee meeting on 4 December, Marco Brambilla (Ecorys) and Maarten de Vries (CE Delft) will present a study identifying the expected impacts on connectivity and mobility of the ‘Fit for 55’ package. The study is based on a comprehensive review of eleven legislative texts in the package with a transport policy dimension. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session with Members.

The TRAN Committee has invited EIB's Ms. Carmen Niethammer (Senior Gender Specialist) and Ms. Ruth Lopian of the Commission (Equality Coordinator, DG MOVE) to join Members for a discussion on "Transport poverty and gender equality". This topic was proposed by the two TRAN Members of the EP's Gender Mainstreaming Network, Ms. Elżbieta Katarzyna ŁUKACIJEWSKA and Ms. Rosa SERRANO SIERRA, and looks at how access limitations to transport disproportionately affect women.

In the framework of the second edition of the EP Disability Rights Week and under the initiative of Ms Elżbieta ŁUKACIJEWSKA and Ms Tilly METZ, the TRAN committee will hold an “Exchange of views on existing barriers in the field of transport for people with disabilities”. The purpose of the discussion is to address disability rights in relation to transport and, particularly, to analyse how to strengthen the rights of persons with disabilities.

The TRAN Committee will hold a public hearing on the “Passenger Rights: Strengthening enforcement and improving multimodal journeys through new rights”, The aim of the hearing is to hold a public debate and receive input from stakeholders in relation to the two legislative proposals presented by the Commission within the Passenger Mobility Package,

The designated candidates of the von der Leyen Commission will be heard by the EP committees dealing with their respective portfolios from 04/11/2024 until 12/11/2024.
