In the 2023 European Parliamentary Week, organised jointly by BUDG, ECON and EMPL, EMPL organised two Interparliamentary Committee Meetings chaired by the Committee Chair, Dragoş Pîslaru, on 27 February, 15:30-18:45. Session I concerned the "Socio-economic consequences of high inflation and energy prices and remedies to address them with focus on vulnerable households" and session II was titled "Further integrating the social dimension in the review of the EU's economic and fiscal framework".

The EPW brings together Parliamentarians from the EU, and from candidate and observer countries to discuss economic, budgetary, employment and social matters. It also contributes to ensuring democratic accountability. It consists of the European Semester Conference and the Interparliamentary Conference on Stability, Economic Coordination and Governance. The first provides an opportunity to exchange information on implementing the Semester cycles, and to strengthen cooperation in order to scrutinise the actions of the executives at national and European levels within the framework of the European Semester. The second provides a framework for debate and best practices in implementing the provisions of the Treaty and aims to strengthen cooperation between national Parliaments and the EP. These are particularly pertinent in the current context of the cost of living crisis, of the EU's economic governance review and of the preparation of the Committee's report on the European Semester.
