On 24 June 2025, the LIBE Committee will hold an exchange of views on the issue of missing persons in Cyprus, with a focus on the families of missing persons from both the Greek and Turkish Cypriot communities, as well as the implementation of EU funding for reconciliation projects.

The LIBE committee is organising an exchange of views on 23rd June 2025, h16.00-17.30, with representatives of the European Public Prosecutors’ Office, Europol and Eurojust, as well as of the European Commission. This exchange aims to assess, particularly from the perspective of the agencies, the challenges of cooperation and to explore ways to improve collaboration in the future, including in the context of a possible review of the legislative framework that governs their operations.

On 12 June, the LIBE Committee hosted a Public Hearing on media freedom and the protection of journalists, focusing on the evolving challenges within the EU’s media legal framework.

On 12 June, the LIBE Committee held an exchange of views on Child-Friendly Justice in Criminal Matters - Children as Victims, Witnesses and Offenders aiming to identify barriers, gaps, and weaknesses in judicial proceedings.

On 4 June, Commissioner McGrath appeared before the LIBE Committee for the Structured Dialogue regarding the tasks and initiatives within his portfolio.

On 4th of June, the LIBE Committee has organised two public hearings addressing critical threats to the European Union's internal security, taking place .

On 20 May the LIBE Committee held two hearings to assess the short-listed candidates for the positions of Executive Directors of the European Union Agency for the Operational Management of Large-Scale IT Systems in the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice (eu-LISA), and Executive Director of the European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA), respectively.

On 20 May, Michael McGrath, Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, the Rule of Law and Consumer Protection participated in an exchange of views with the LIBE Members on the key challenges to democracy in the digital age, including foreign influence, disinformation, and algorithmic manipulation of electoral processes.

On 13 May, Commissioner Brunner appeared before the LIBE Committee for the Structured Dialogue regarding the work and initiatives within his portfolio.
