Members from the Committee on Budgets will vote on three key budgetary files: the revision of the EU's long-term budget (multiannual financial framework 2021-2027), the creation of the Ukraine Facility (jointly with Members from the Committee on Foreign Affairs) and the creation of the Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform – STEP (jointly with Members from the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy).

On Monday 5 February, from 19.00 to 21.00, Members from the Committee on Budgets and the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs held the 14th Recovery and Resilience Dialogue with Valdis Dombrovskis, Executive Vice-President responsible for an Economy that Works for People, also in charge of Trade, and Paolo Gentiloni, Commissioner for Economy.

BUDG and CONT Committee Members exchanged views with Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for Budget and Administration, on the implementation of the Rule of Law Conditionality Regulation and the release of cohesion funds under the Common Provision Regulation to Hungary. Given their competences on the subject, Didier Reynders, Commissioner for Justice, and Nicolas Schmit, Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, were also invited.

Members from the AFET and BUDG Committees heard the Commission present its proposal for a regulation establishing the Reform and Growth Facility for the Western Balkans. Its purpose is to set up a new financing instrument to provide EUR 6 billion to the countries of the Western Balkans, consisting of EUR 2 billion in grants and EUR 4 billion in highly concessional loans.
