CULT Committee discusses cultural solidarity with Ukraine

On 17 May the CULT Committee held an exchange of views on “Culture in times of crisis – cultural solidarity in support of Ukraine and beyond” with leading European organisations in the cultural sector (Culture Action Europe, European Cultural Foundation and Europa Nostra) engaged in a wide mobilisation for solidarity actions in support of Ukraine.
The exchange of views explored, together with representatives of the Commission, the feasibility of combining and multiplying available strategic resources in an innovative public-philanthropic mechanism for emergency support that could address the needs of cultural and heritage sectors in Ukraine first, and could subsequently serve as a joint response for further emergencies for medium- and longer term cultural recovery in Europe.
