In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the President of the European Parliament has established a number of measures to contain the spread of the virus and to safeguard Parliament's core activities. The current precautionary measures do not affect work on legislative priorities. Core activities are maintained to ensure the smooth running of the institution's legislative, budgetary, and scrutiny functions.
The last DEVE Meeting took place on 19 and 20 April with the following items:
  • Presentation of the study "The implementation of Agenda 2030's "leaving no one behind" and "addressing the needs of those farthest behind first" principles in the EU's development policy"
  • The humanitarian situation in Ukraine following Russia's aggression
  • Impact of the Ukrainian crisis on global food security
  • The future European Financial Architecture for Development
The next meeting will take place on Monday 25 April, 15.30 - 17.00, in room Spinelli 1G3 and remotely.

In the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and in particular the devastating humanitarian consequences of the crisis, the Committee on Development has invited the Chair of the Humanitarian Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Mr Mykyta Poturayev, to participate in a debate on this subject on 20 April 2022.

On 4 April, the Committees on Development and on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs discussed the implementation of the temporary protection directive and humanitarian assistance to the displaced Ukrainian population, in particular children, following Russia's aggression – as more than half of all Ukrainian children have been displaced.
