On 30 June, the joint IMCO-LIBE Committee, together with the opinion-giving committees, discussed the more than 3000 amendments submitted to the Commission’s proposal for an Artificial Intelligence Act.

Co-rapporteurs, Mr. Brando Benifei (IMCO, S&D) and Mr. Dragoș Tudorache (LIBE, RENEW), as well as Members stressed the importance of a coherent approach in order to have clear standards reflecting EU values and ensure a future proof regulation. Among the points raised were the protection of fundamental rights, the list of high-risk applications, the option of third-party assessments, and the need to further refine the definition of AI.
