Security threats to undersea communications cables and infrastructure

This study requested by the Subcommittee on Security and Defence (SEDE), discusses the vulnerability of the EU subsea data cable network, by reviewing security threats and the level of preparedness in the Union. The study puts forward recommendations to improve resilience: enhancing awareness, coordination and information-sharing, advancing surveillance capabilities, strengthening response and repair mechanisms, and mainstreaming the topic across external action.
