Ακροάσεις

Oι επιτροπές μπορούν να διοργανώνουν ακροάσεις με τη συμμετοχή εμπειρογνωμόνων, όταν αυτό κρίνεται ουσιώδους σημασίας για το έργο τους επί ενός συγκεκριμένου θέματος. Οι ακροάσεις μπορούν να διοργανώνονται από κοινού, από δύο ή περισσότερες επιτροπές. Οι περισσότερες επιτροπές διοργανώνουν ακροάσεις τακτικά, εφόσον αυτό τους επιτρέπει να ενημερώνονται για τις απόψεις εμπειρογνωμόνων και να συζητούν μαζί τους για τα σημαντικότερα θέματα. AIDA public hearing

On Tuesday 30 November, 16:45-18:45, the AIDA Committee will hold a hearing on the topic of AI and bias. The hearing will comprise two panel discussions with experts from academia, civil society and industry, followed by a Q&A with AIDA Members. The first panel will focus on the impact of bias on the development of trustworthy AI. The second panel will explore algorithmic accountability, data governance, and how to reduce bias in AI systems.

AI and Transport

On Monday 11 October, 13.45-15.45, the Members of AIDA Special Committee and of TRAN Committee will hold a joint hearing on AI and Transport. In the two panels representatives from the academia, private sector and civil society will share their views on the long-term impact of the AI on transport modes and mobility. The discussion will cover also the EU Transport Policies with a special attention for minimizing risks.

Data Act

On Thursday 30 September, 9.00-12.00, the AIDA Special Committee will hold a public hearing on the "Data strategy". The EP rapporteur for the INI report on the 'European strategy for data' and AIDA Vice-Chair - Miapetra Kumpula-Natri will be opening the event together with the AIDA Chair - Dragoş Tudorache, and he will be making the concluding remarks.

On 6 September, Special Committee on Foreign Interference in all Democratic Processes in the European Union, including Disinformation (INGE), welcomed Executive Vice-President Margrethe Vestager to its meeting. Members questioned her on the Commission's digital policies, such as the DSA and the EU strategy on data.

Financial services

On Thursday 1 July, 13.45-15.45, the Members of AIDA Special Committee and of ECON Committee will hold a joint hearing on AI and Financial Services. In the two panels representatives from the European Commission, the European Central Bank, the European Supervisory Authorities and from the private sector and from civil society will share their views on the potential and limits of AI use in financial services, and on how to mitigate potential negative side-effects.

AI, Agriculture and Food Security

On Monday 14 June 2021, AIDA in association with the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI) will organise a joint hearing on the future of agriculture and food security in the digital age. The hearing addresses the important topic of the impact of technological applications on agriculture and farming practices, and the challenges of regulating AI for a more sustainable and innovative Common Agricultural Policy.

On 27 May, the Special Committee on Beating Cancer put the spotlight on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in cancer research, cancer care and personalised cancer medicine and issues related to data protection during a public hearing with 8 leading experts in the field and the European Commission. The public hearing was organised in association with the Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence in a Digital Age (AIDA).

AIDA-EMPL Hearing

On 25 May, AIDA and EMPL Committees will organise a hearing on AI and the labour market, in which AI's impact on the future of skills will also be discussed.

Hearing on AI and the future of democracy

On 15 April, the AIDA and INGE Special Committees will hold a hearing on the future of democracy in the digital age and on how to strike the right regulatory balances in our increasingly tech-driven societies. The two panels address the challenges the EU is facing in its current trajectory towards the 2030 Digital Decade, such as the impact of AI on democratic and electoral processes, as well as how AI is affecting the notions of active citizenship, political participation, and policy-making.

AI and Competitiveness

On Tuesday, 23 March 2021 AIDA is organising a hearing on "AI and Competitiveness". The event will address the following questions: What are the choices for regulatory frameworks to enabling the potential of AI solutions for increasing EU enterprises competitiveness?; How to build a competitive and innovative AI sector?; What are the EU enterprises challenges in entering AI markets, by developing and adopting competitive AI solutions?

External policy dimension

On Monday, 1 March and Thursday, 4 March 2021, AIDA will hold a public hearing on the external policy dimension of AI in association with AFET and SEDE. The event will be divided into two panels, with a first panel on “AI diplomacy and governance in a global setting: towards regulatory convergence” and a second panel on "AI, cybersecurity and defence".

AI and the Green Deal

On Wednesday, 27 January 2021, AIDA Special Committee is organising a hearing on "AI and Green Deal". The aim of the event is to reach out to experts and specialists, to establish the state of play of AI in the fight against climate change, and its role in fulfilling the UN sustainable development goals (SDGs), as well as in the Europe’s green recovery plan after the Covid-19 crisis. ENVI Committee will be associated to this hearing.
