Oι επιτροπές μπορούν να διοργανώνουν ακροάσεις με τη συμμετοχή εμπειρογνωμόνων, όταν αυτό κρίνεται ουσιώδους σημασίας για το έργο τους επί ενός συγκεκριμένου θέματος. Οι ακροάσεις μπορούν να διοργανώνονται από κοινού, από δύο ή περισσότερες επιτροπές. Οι περισσότερες επιτροπές διοργανώνουν ακροάσεις τακτικά, εφόσον αυτό τους επιτρέπει να ενημερώνονται για τις απόψεις εμπειρογνωμόνων και να συζητούν μαζί τους για τα σημαντικότερα θέματα. Europe and the Indo-Pacific region together represent over 70 % of global trade in goods and services and over 60 % of foreign direct investment (FDI) with their annual trade reaching EUR 1.5 trillion in 2019. The EU is the biggest investor in the area, which includes four (China, Japan, South Korea and India) out of the EU’s top 10 global trading partners. Second Annual Conference on the Global State of Human Rights

The European Parliament and the Global Campus of Human Rights will organise the second Annual Conference on the Global State of Human Rights on 15-16 July 2022 in Venice, Italy. This unique event will include keynote speakers, pannelists and moderators from diverse backgrounds, including Members of the European Parliament, academics from the Global Campus network, high officials from EU and other international organisations, national human rights bodies, civil society, human rights defenders

The Eastern Partnership in the shadow of the war

On 14 July, the Committee on Foreign Affairs will hold a hearing from 11.00-12.30 on the EU policy towards the Eastern Partnership countries following the Russian invasion in Ukraine. Russian War of aggression against Ukraine is having a negative impact on the Eastern Partnership countries, who are affected by trade disruptions, a refugee and other crises.

A small chip

The aim of the hearing was to look at chips as a strategic component of any industrial chain. The race for the most advanced chips is linked to technological and industrial leadership. The hearing was held in the context of the recent Commission proposal on a European Chips Act.

DROI

The COVID-19 pandemic has deprived a number of older people of a dignified end of life around the world. It has also amplified the existing human rights violations suffered by dependent ones, such as abuse, neglect and discrimination. On 11 July DROI will hold a hearing to examine the current situation on the protection of the rights of dependent elderly people and other dependent persons under international and national laws.

INGE Committee hearing on "Interference through advertisement"

On 11 July 2022, IMCO held a public hearing on the proposed Regulation on transparency and targeting of political advertising. This was an opportunity for Members to exchange views with stakeholders, experts and researchers from different domains on the main elements of the proposal. This proposes general transparency obligations for all actors involved in the financing, preparation, placement, and dissemination of political advertising, both offline and online.

FISC Subcommittee

The next meeting of the FISC Subcommittee will take place on 11 July 2022, from 15:00 to 17:00. The Subcommittee will host a public hearing on "The role of tax incentives and exemptions in the framework of the reform of corporate taxation and in the promotion of European economies' competitiveness".

The Committee on Fisheries held a public hearing on the "Maritime Spatial Planning Directive and its Implementation and Impact on Fisheries" on 11 July 2022.

On 30 June from 11.00 to 13.00, ING2 Members will welcome Vice-President for Values and Transparency, Ms Věra Jourová, to the special committee. As a first follow-up to the recommendations from the INGE-report, ING2 Members will discuss, together with Members from IMCO, CULT and LIBE, what steps the Commission has taken since the adoption of the INGE report.

The Committee in Budgets held a public hearing on social and biodiversity tracking in the EU budget and EU policies. The hearing aimed to provide the Committee on Budgets - and the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety for the first panel - with insight on social and biodiversity methodologies which are or could be applied to the EU budget and EU policies.
