On Tuesday, 2 December 2025, the organisers of the European Citizens' Initiative presented their initiative at a public hearing held by the FEMM committee with involvement of PETI and with the participation of the DEVE, SANT and LIBE committees in presence of Hadja Lahbib, Commissioner for Equality; Preparedness and Crisis Management.
The European Citizens' Initiative "My Voice, My Choice: For Safe and Accessible Abortion" has taken a major step forward. Registered by the European Commission on 8 March 2023, the initiative officially reached over one million validated signatures across the EU on 1 September 2025, meeting the threshold required under EU law.
The organisers of the initiative are calling on the European Commission to put forward measures that guarantee safe and accessible abortion for all citizens across the Union.
