A delegation of 8 Members of the Committee on International Trade (INTA) travelled to Geneva from 12 to 15 June for the 12th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organisation (WTO). They held a series of bilateral meetings with ministers, pressing them to reach an agreement on issues such as unsustainable fisheries subsidies, agriculture, e-commerce and a possible waiver of intellectual property (IP) rights on COVID-19 vaccines and treatments.

At its meeting on 16 June, the International Trade Committee will discuss the amendments tabled by INTA Members on the Commission's legislative proposal for a so-called anti-coercion instrument. This new tool aims to deter and, if necessary, counter actions taken by non-EU countries which interfere in the legitimate sovereign choices of the EU or a Member State to take (or not to take) particular policy measures.

An ad hoc delegation of eight Members will travel to Santiago de Chile from 23 to 25 May 2022 to discuss the progress of the modernisation of the trade part of the existing 2002 EU-Chile Association Agreement and other bilateral trade matters.
