The meetings will be with remote participation for Members (being able to view and listen to proceedings, ask for the floor and intervene in the meeting). Other participants are invited to follow the meeting through webstreaming.
Following these decisions, the next ordinary AFET Committee meetings will take place on 3 and 10 December (via videoconference).
On 2 December the Foreign Affairs Committee (AFET) will hold an Interparliamentary Committee Meeting (ICM) with national parliaments in two sessions. The meeting is scheduled from 13.45-15.45 and 16.45 to 18.45, via remote participation.
AFET Members are invited to a webinar where Dr Louise Van Schaik and Mr. Ties Dams from the Clingendael Institute will present their study on the new prospects ahead of the transatlantic partnership. Together with Members of the delegation for relations with the US, AFET Members will have the chance to pose questions to the experts and exchange ideas on the future direction of EU-US cooperation.
On 19 November, the Committee on Foreign Affairs will hold an exchange of views with Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi the situation in Montenegro and Serbia. This exchange comes in the aftermath of the Sofia Western Balkans Summit held on 10 November, launching the Common Regional Market. The European Parliament will vote the respective country reports in early 2021.
On 9 November, the Committe on Foreign Affairs will hold an exchange of views with Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). This is the first time Mr Lazzarini will hold an exchange of views in AFET after his appointment as Commissioner General in March 2020.
