About
Welcome to the AGRI Committee!
The Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI) is a major player in the shaping of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), as well as the Union policies in rural development, animal health and welfare, plant health, forestry and agroforestry. A central part of its work is the preparation of reports regarding legislative proposals of the Commission which fall under the ordinary legislative procedure between Parliament and Council, for later adoption in plenary.
Agriculture is among the central EU priorities for the next five years, as set out in the strategic agenda adopted at the European Council of 27 June 2024. The Union will promote "a competitive, sustainable and resilient agricultural sector" that continues to ensure food security. Our AGRI committee will maintain its key role in this mission, which includes the continued support for rural communities and the strengthening of the position of farmers in the food supply chain.
Our website provides extensive information, in all 24 official languages of the EU, to allow you to follow our work: meeting agendas, live webstreaming of our meetings, reports and amendments, MEP profiles and contact details. Enjoy your visit!
