AGRI audition Mercosur 18.11.2019

On 18 November, the AGRI Committee will organise a hearing to analyse the potential impacts of the Mercosur agreement on the agricultural market. Following 20 years of negotiations, the EU and Mercosur countries struck a political agreement in June 2019 which aims to bring political and economic relations between the trading partners closer together, and to create the world's biggest market (by population size), for goods and services.

The hearing will provide an opportunity to have both a general overview of the possible environmental, social and economic impacts of the deal and also a specific analysis regarding the agricultural sector.
