Workshops

Workshops are organised by the policy departments and enable members to put questions to and exchange views with experts on subjects associated with parliamentary business or subjects of current interest. They are not necessarily held in public but may be held during a committee meeting.

On Friday 10 September (10.00-12.00), the AIDA Committee is organising an academia roundtable on the future of AI. The webinar will focus on the role of academia in AI and examine likely developments leading up to the EU's digital decade ahead of 2030. Experts from academia and various research institutions will share their professional experience and research findings, and address the challenges facing the future of AI from an academic perspective. The event is open to AIDA Members and staff.

Presentation

On Friday 25 June, AIDA Committee will organise a presentation of the four studies 'Improving working conditions using AI', 'The role of AI in the European Green Deal', 'Challenges and limits of an open source approach to AI' and 'AI diplomacy: AI Governance as a new external policy Tool', delivered by the Policy Department for Economic, Scientific and Quality of Life Policies...

Robot performing a task

On Friday 18 June, AIDA Committee will organise a workshop on "AI industry showcases". Five organisations are invited to present their products and services in the field of AI/ML and the way they are used in practice. The main objective of the workshop is to provide an opportunity for improving one's understanding of how AI is used and deployed in the society and in the industry today.

Public administration

On Friday 28 May, AIDA Committee will organise a workshop on AI and Public Administration. It aims to address the use and impact of AI in public services in the EU. The workshop will feature a scene-setter from the Joint Research Centre and practical examples of AI use in public administration on topics such as improving public administration with AI, fighting crime, document management and urban mobility. The workshop is open to all AIDA members and staff, and will not be webstreamed.

National astronautics and space research centre

On Friday, 21 May 2021 AIDA committee will co-host a virtual tour in the German Space Agency (DLR) provided by the Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics at the agency. The Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics develops a wide array of robots to enable humans to interact more safely and efficiently with their surrounding environments. The robots are designed to act in surroundings inaccessible or dangerous to humans as well as to support humans in everyday life and work.

AI and Law enforcement

On Friday, 30 April 2021, AIDA Committee in association with the LIBE committee and in cooperation with the European Commission (DH HOME) will organise a workshop on AI and Law enforcement. It aims to address practical aspects of AI and law enforcement, security and fundamental rights. AIDA webinar AI Basics

On Friday, 26 March 2021 (12:00-14:00), AIDA committee will be hosting a Webinar on "AI basics" delivered by staff of European Parliamentary Research Service (EPRS). This event will address questions and topics such as: what is AI and what is it not?, key concepts beyond the AI, history of the emergence of AI, current state of play of AI and links with other emerging technologies, technological factors accelerating the development of AI, societal factors...

AIDA AI Webinar with EUI experts

On Thursday, 14 January 2021 from 13:45 to 15:45, the Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence will host experts from the European University Institute (EUI) in a webinar to present the current state of play in AI research and AI applications, as well as explore the outlook for possible future uses and risks of AI in the short and medium term.
