In the context of the exponential growth of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the President of the European Parliament has announced a number of measures to contain the spread of epidemic and to safeguard Parliament's core activities.

On 2 July, the Conference of Presidents updated the EP's calendar of activities.

The current precautionary measures adopted by the EP to contain the spread of COVID-19 do not affect work on legislative priorities. Core activities are reduced, but maintained to ensure that the institution's legislative, budgetary, scrutiny functions are maintained.

Following these decisions, the next BECA Committee meeting will take place on Tuesday 27 October 2020 from 13.45 - 15.45 via multilingual remote participation. The meeting will be webstreamed.

The next BECA Committee meeting will take place on 27 October, from 13.45 - 15.45. MEPs will hold an exchange of views with Ms Stella Kyriakides, Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, on Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan. Following the BECA debate on 12 October with Rapporteur Véronique Trillet-Lenoir, MEPs will now have the opportunity to debate their priorities with Commissioner Kyriakides, from 14.30 - 15.45.

On 12 October, Members of the Beating Cancer committee held a first exchange of views on preventing and beating cancer in the EU with the Rapporteur Véronique Trillet-Lenoir. In his introduction, Chair Bartosz Arlukowicz stated that citizens have high expectations from the BECA committee as a big step forward to establishing a common standard to fight cancer. He reminded that BECA has 12 months to fulfil its mission.
