The Commission proposed to adopt a decision to mobilise the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund for Displaced Workers (EGF) following an application from Belgium relating to 507 displaced workers whose activity had ceased in Liberty Galaţi Belgian Branch, a Belgian manufacturer of basic metals, after the bankruptcy of the enterprise in April 2025.

The Members of the BUDG Committee will vote on the decision regarding the mobilisation of EUR 2 033 869 for Belgium, covering 85% of the total costs associated with the proposed reintegration measures.

The rapporteur for the file is Matthias Ecke (S&D, Germany).
