Highlights

On 14 May 2025 the ECA Special Report 13/2025: "Support from the Recovery and Resilience Facility for the digital transition in EU member states – A missed opportunity for strategic focus in addressing digital needs" was presented to Members of the Committee of Budgetary Control (CONT) by reporting ECA Member Ildikó Gáll-Pelcz.

On 14 May from 15:00 to 16:15, together with the CONT committee, the FISC Subcommittee invited Mr François-Roger Cazala, Member responsible of the European Court of Auditors (ECA) to present its the Special report 08/2025 on “Value Added Tax fraud on imports – The EU’s financial interests are insufficiently protected under simplified import customs procedures”.

On 14 May 2025 the ECA Special Report 11/2025 : "Transparency of EU funding granted to NGOs. Despite progress, the overview is still not reliable" was presented to Members of the Committee of Budgetary Control (CONT) by reporting ECA Member Laima Andrikienė.

On 14 May 2025 the ECA Special Report 10/2025 : "Labour market reforms in the national recovery and resilience plans" was presented to Members of the Committee of Budgetary Control (CONT) by reporting ECA Member Ivana Maletić.

On 14 May 2025, the Members of the Committee on Budgetary Control voted on the draft opinion to the own-initiative report of the REGI Committee on possibilities for simplification of cohesion funds.

On 14 May 2025, the Budgetary Control Committee held a hearing and voted on the renewal of Ms Ivana Maletić as the Croatian Member of the European Court of Auditors (ECA).

On 13 May from 15:00 to 16:30, the BUDG, CONT and ECON committees have invited Mr Lefteris Christoforou, the European Court of Auditors' Member who led the audit team of its Special report 07/2025 on “The European Fund for Strategic Investments”.

The objective of the joint public hearing was to provide the Members of the BUDG, CONT and LIBE Committees with input from academics and practitioners on how to ensure that final beneficiaries and recipients can continue to receive EU funding where the EU has suspended payments to a Member State due to rule of law breaches by the central government.
