The COVID-19 pandemic was not only a major health crisis but also one that impacted society, the economy, democracy & fundamental rights, and international governance. In November, COVI Committee will embark on a series of discussions to assess the socio-economic consequences of the pandemic. The first of these will take place on 14 November 2022.

On 26-27 October 2022, COVI Special Committee welcomed ministers of the global south countries as well as representatives of international organisations (WHO, WTO, PAHO, CEPI) to exchange views on the international dimension of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On 30 August 2022, the COVI Committee held an exchange of views with Sandra Gallina, Director-General for Health and Food Safety, and EU Health Ministers. The aim of the exchange of views with Director-General Gallina was discuss issues related to the main challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, how Advanced Purchase Agreements were drawn up, the lessons learned and how the EU and Member States will handle them in the future.
