DEVE and AFET Members will discuss the current situation in Mozambique during an extraordinary meeting on 3 December, from 13:45 until 15:00. The meeting will take place remotely (from room Antall 2Q2) and will be webstreamed. Interpretation will be provided in EN, FR, DE, IT, ES, PL, HU and BG.
DEVE Members, together with AFET and FEMM Members, will meet from 15:30 to 16:45 to debate on the Gender Action Plan (GAP) III with HRVP Josep Borrell and Commissioner Jutta Urpilainen.
Between 16:45 and 18:45, DEVE Members will debate on the role of the EU's development cooperation and humanitarian assistance in addressing the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and on the consequences of the pandemic on pastoralists and mobile livestock keepers in Africa.
This study provides a broad perspective of the main trends in intra-African migration, emphasising its regional variations and complex drivers. It has been presented to DEVE Members on 19 November
Dr Seth Berkley, Chief Executive Officer of the GAVI Alliance exchanged views with DEVE Members on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on immunisation programmes in developing countries and GAVI's contribution to the global health development response to COVID-19.
On 19 November, DEVE, AFET and DROI Members took part remotely in a panel discussion, together with members of national Parliaments, on "External dimension, shaping partnerships with third countries”.
A joint AFET-DEVE exchange of views with the EEAS and the European Commission (DG DEVCO and DG ECHO) on the situation in Ethiopia took place on 19 November fduring the extraordinary meeting of the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
On 12 November, DEVE Members discussed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on developing countries' debt situations with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the European Network on Debt and Development (Eurodad).
MEPs exchanged views with Janez Lenarčič, EU Commissioner for Crisis Management, on the humanitarian aid situation. The second part of the meeting was dedicated to an exchange of views with UN Women, represented by Anita Bhatia, Deputy Executive Director, on Gender equality, women's empowerment and the impact of COVID-19 on women in developing countries in 2020. MEPs also adopted the report on "improving development effectiveness and efficiency of aid”.
