Directive on a Common Charger - vote on the provisional agreement

Press conference after the final trilogue on the common charger directive

At the committee meeting of 11 - 12 July 2022, IMCO voted in favour of the provisional agreement reached between Parliament and Council a the second and last trilogue held on 7 June 2022 in Strasbourg. The provisional agreement received 43 votes in favour and one against.

Prior to the vote, the Rapporteur, Mr. Alex Agius Saliba (S&D) took the floor to hail the success achieved in a short time nine months after the Commission's proposal was put forward. He also underlined how the agreement goes beyond that proposal and will result not only in a better deal for consumers but also greater environmental sustainability of electronic devices.
