Meetings with National Parliaments

The European Parliament maintains active dialogue with national parliaments to reinforce interparliamentary cooperation. The Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) participates in the biannual Interparliamentary Conferences on economic governance in the EMU, established under Article 13 of the Treaty on Stability, Coordination and Governance (TSCG).

At the initiative of the Committees on Budgets (BUDG), Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON), and Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL), the European Parliamentary Week was established and takes place in the first semester of each year. This event brings together parliamentarians from across the EU to discuss economic, budgetary and social priorities and to strengthen cooperation and democratic accountability.

Article 13 of the TSCG Treaty also foresees that Parliament's relevant committees are invited to the Article 13 Conference hosted by the rotating Council Presidency in the second semester.
