ENVI Committee meetings
The next ENVI meeting will take place on Thursday, 13 January from 9:00 to 12:00 and from 13:45 to 15:45.
In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the President of the European Parliament has established a number of measures to contain the spread of the virus and to safeguard Parliament's core activities. The current precautionary measures do not affect work on legislative priorities.
Core activities are maintained to ensure the smooth running of the institution's legislative, budgetary, and scrutiny functions.
Highlights
On 16 December 2021, Bas Eickhout will present his draft opinion on the Green Bonds proposal in ENVI. The draft opinion aims to address the issue of green bonds and the risk of greenwashing, the role of external reviewers to verify pre and post-issuance information, auditing obligations for issuers and the alignment with the Taxonomy regulation. The ENVI Committee will vote on the opinion on 10 February 2022 whilst the vote in ECON is expected for 31 March 2022.
The ENVI Committee has invited the authors of the Policy Department study “The relation between different zoonotic pandemics and the livestock sector” to present the study’s main findings at the next ENVI meeting on 16 December in Strasbourg.
On 6 December 2021, The Commission updated the ENVI committee on the outcome of the special session of the WHO World Health Assembly, held from 29 November to 1 December 2021.
On Tuesday 30 November, the ENVI Committee had its annual exchange with Emer Cooke, Executive Director of the European Medicines Agency.
On Monday 29 November, Executive Vice-President Frans Timmermans had an exchange with members of the ENVI committee on Monday 29 November.
On 6 December 2021, ENVI Members will hold two exchanges of views concerning cooperation between the European Union and the United Nations.
On Monday 29 November, ENVI members exchanged views on the first draft of the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework with Mr Basile van Havre, who co - chairs the Open Ended Working Group tasked with advancing the preparations of the document.
