During the ENVI Committee meeting on 11 December, Virginijus Sinkevicius, Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries, will present the new and revised Batteries Directive, to be adopted by the Commission on 9 December.
On 11 December, Ms Emer Cooke, Executive Director of the European Medicines Agency (EMA), will give an update to ENVI members on the latest developments concerning the authorisation of vaccines against COVID-19.
On 30 November and 1 December ENVI Members voted on a response to the Commission’s Fitness Check of the EU Water legislation.
On 16 November the ENVI Committee held an exchange of views with Stella Kyriakides, Commissioner for Health and Food safety, on EU preparedness and resilience in the field of public health. The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed a number of shortcomings in the EU’s health crisis response and highlighted the need for increased cooperation and coordination at EU level.
