Hearings

A committee is permitted to organise a hearing with experts, where this is considered essential to its work on a particular subject. Hearings can also be held jointly by two or more committees. Most committees organise regular hearings, as they allow them to hear from experts and hold discussions on the key issues. Women on Boards
FEMM

On 21 September 2020, JURI and FEMM organized a joint hearing on the 'Women on Boards' proposal (2012/0299 (COD)). In November 2012, the Commission published a proposal for a directive on improving the gender balance among non-executive directors of companies listed on stock exchanges, commonly known as the ‘Women on Boards’ proposal. Parliament adopted its first reading position back in November 2013. However, the proposal is still awaiting Council’s first-reading position.
