On 4 November 2025, the Committee on Legal Affairs held a public hearing on improving gender diversity in the IP sector.

The hearing brought together representatives from intellectual property organisations - including the European Patent Office (EPO), the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) - alongside female inventors and entrepreneurs. The discussion focused on current challenges and opportunities in promoting gender balance within the IP ecosystem, explored barriers faced by women in innovation and patenting, and identified effective policies and initiatives to foster greater inclusivity and representation across the sector.
